The Flote is an easy-to-use, affordable, DIY musical instrument that allows people to use their head movement and breath to produce music with ease, thus amplifying small gestures for a big impact.
Starting as a project for a d.school class at Stanford University during the Winter of 2008, we came out of the class with a goal: to make theFlote easily re-creatable at a low cost, with minimal time (and technical skills) required to build the instrument. And we make our software available completely for free. Ultimately, we want to minimize the barriers to producing powerful music.
Enjoy, and spread the word!
The Flote is attending SIGACCESS's ASSETS08 Conference in Halifax, NS, Canada from October 12th - 13th, 2008 for a demo. You can learn more by reading a short paper on our project describing the technical details of the Flote, submitted to the conference proceedings.
